My bolts are in pretty bad shape, looks like they have been cut down from unoriginal longer bolts. Some aren't fitting, even with the bumper off.

I am going to lightly tap the nuts and wanto get replacement bolts/rubber biscuit spacers.

Are the 8.8 class m8 x 40mm bolts from the hardware store good enough for temporary use while I order the correct 10.9 class ones? the ones inside it now are 9.8.

Factory bolts were 8.8 and plenty strong.

Some people use threaded studs to make hanging the bumper easier.

But then they miss out on the fun of single-handed supporting a bumper in place while trying to get a bolt on each side started.

Actually not to hard if you can find a large cardboard box to sit it on. Also works well for removing.

Call your neighbor. Those bolts pictured above should sue for severe abuse. I guess some folks need help.

Just consider it a trim panel, you really don't want to bump it. 8.8's are fine

Threaded studs are the only way to go!

My bumpers fit pretty tight. I have to crank on the bolts pretty hard to bring them into the correct position. That's where my strength concern came in.

At least for the top two.

I cut screwdriver slots in the studs, then switch them out for bolts after the bumpers are hung.

thats a great idea, especially since they are temporary.

New bumper guards and improving your bumper fit is so so satisfying...
