Are these gaps between the rubber bumper top and the housing for the lights normal?Click to view attachment Click to view attachment

I have a similar but worse case. Mine is a back dated SS bumper. I think the eyebrows on yours could be a little too high and may cover some of the gap

The eyebrows should still move forward quite a bit.

PS: How do the gaps look like with the hood closed?

Is there a way to adjust the eyebrows that I have over looked?

They are simply held in with little black rubber cones. It's a safety feature so your fingers won't get cut off when the lights go down and your hand might be in the way. 914 Rubber sells new rubber cones if the ones on your car have perished or gotten old and brittle.

Barefoot garage has a nice vid on restoring the headlights which shows the eyebrows in depth

+1 to the eyebrow fit should align with the fender edge, it is tricky but will align with a good rubber set.

That said, the bumper is still too far away and suspect that the dog bones are tweaked.

This was as close as we could get…

what a german after beers at friday lunchtime job looks like?

none of those guys would have got a job at audi.

Are the rubber cones for all years, mine is a 1970 and they were held in by 3 x m8 bolts. It has been resprayed at 1 point in its life so it could have been changed.

@Jett Your headlight/eyebrow/hood/bumper fitment is perfect.

And yes, @Dobbsy - The eyebrows should not have bolts in them- always rubber. beerchug.gif

Medtner - Is you bumper sitting too high also ???
Root_Werks
It looks like the eyebrows are on the wrong side of the metal rib.
ndfrigi
Maybe just need to grind the dogbone to make the bumper move in a little bit. Look at the other pics from members.

Bumper should be tighter to body and eyebrow moved down for equal gaps.
All 914's need these adjustment over time. Best, Mark
Root_Werks
Looks like the eyebrow is sitting on top of the metal instead of in front of it.

As others have said, the bumper also needs better alignment.

Or possibly the rubber top isn't installed correctly.
