Full Version: Rear spring perch holes

Hi all,

I'm refreshing the stock rear coil over springs on my "76 914, #3947,
with new BOGE shocks and 914rubber 100# springs.

My question has to do with the orientation of the holes in the rear perches. What is their function and does it really matter?? And yes, I seem to have way too much free time on my hands lately!

In the attached photo, the holes are facing rearward, away from each other, in what I call"chassis outside reference".

If the assemblies are switched (not shown), the holes are facing each other rearward in a "chassis inside reference".

Thank for looking!

They allow water to drain out of the perch and should be toward the front of the car.

end in the deepest part of the seat, then rotate the top perch to seat the same way.
