I am installing a 914 engine into a 356 (a 1973 or 74) I bought the 914 to bug kit from The 914 Store (LN ENGINEERING ) but I have been told the 356 transmission is different and the 356 starter ring may not match. The 200 MM PP may not fit. HELP ! Al

I would suggest 356registry.org

If not, pm me and send me your email
I will hook you up to a buddy who knows all about 356, and those you need to ask.

Rough answer,
The difference is the starter motor teeth, you may need to convert to 12 volts to make it work.

Rod Emory has one he just did….just seen by a friend, it does work, provided you use the vw flywheel and 12 vdc starter .

Again, rough answer
