Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've read and re-read all the threads on beefing up the weak-link CV's in the forums. I need some opinions on my torquey water-cooled 1.8T stroker project. I took the TRANS-side CV's off my Audi 012 tranny and measured them and think they may actually work with a 108mm 911 STUB axle.
They are 6 holes and 28 splines.
There are a few important differences:
#1. The width measures 32.3mm instead of 40.2mm like the "true" 930's This makes them substantially lighter.
#2. The mating surface is raised on the outer lip instead of being recessed.
#3. The inner cage measures like a bus cage 67.31mm x 36.93mm (a little wider)
#4. The balls are big like the true 930, 22.23mm
Since most CV failure occur because of cage breakage, is this a good option ?Click to view attachment Click to view attachment Click to view attachment Click to view attachment
