Hello Everyone!

I acquired this 914 about 10 years ago now and have been storing it in hopes that I one day would get to tackle a restomod type build on it but realistically I will never get to the project. I was curious where you guys would put market value at on something like this?

Its an incomplete roller that would include the engine(I am not familiar with the details but its been rebuilt at some point with twin dellorto carbs installed) and the original transmission but none of the engine tinwork or cooling. It hasn't been registered since 79 and is clean rust wise, no major rust just minor surface rust in spots. Most of that time since 79 it has been stored indoors, and I know for sure at least for that last 40 years. Its a very solid car to build from and would be an awesome resto candidate or if someone had a rough car that wanted to swap over to a clean car it would be perfect.

Thank you for checking out the post and I appreciate any feedback that you can bestow!

Could you post pictures of the VIN along the A-pillar, the aluminum tag in the front trunk, the driver's door lock pillar VIN tag and the rear trunk chassis number? Then post up some pictures of the underside, engine and all parts. Thanks and GLWTS. beerchug.gif

Wash and clean the car for pictures. That hour could be worth thousands. I would remove the rocker covers for photos too. That could speed up the sale. Good luck!

You really need to pull the rockers as that is where they rust first
And any informed buyer would want to see that area to assess rust

agree.gif Almost everything else (except crash damage) is secondary. The longs are the backbone of the car.

I still have to scoop the engine up, once i get a chance to grab it I will snap some pictures. I just ran out and grabbed a couple shots on my cell phone so sorry about the photo quality.

Might be interesting to post an odometer pic as well. Given the short road life of this car combined with the engine bay pics, this thing could be an original mile car.

My apologies to the OP. I mistakenly thought the picture of the production number was a picture of the VIN.

GLWS!

@DennisO - Where do you see VINs that do not match?

Vins match
Wash it
Post pictures of engine and trans, include big picture, and serial numbers up close
Remove rocker covers and include pics of longitudinal sunder the covers.
Post pics of the area under the battery tray from above and below

That is a valid project, but the honest value will be based upon how much structural rust and repair work is required.

I cannot confirm 100% on this, but based on everything i would believe it to be 81027 as shown on the odometer.

Went back and grabbed the engine. Forgot an exhaust was sitting there next to it.

$5.k ...... maybe

I think cleaned up and organized it's in the $7k or more range. If you can show that the motor is OK that's a lot of value.

Is that a multi plate race clutch sitting on the engine there?

On the bubble re:vins

Trunk vin is mismatched. Probably took a hit. Mystery motor.

It's a project.

Again, the VIN numbers match.

What you are looking at is the Body number.
You can learn how to decode that in this thread.
Basically, tells you when it was built (the day)

It's a project.

There is no VIN in the trunk. That's the chassis number which *does* match the chassis number on the Karman tag in the door jamb.

As others have mentioned above, the VINs all match as does the chassis number.
Nothing to see here ...

Its good to have the facts understood when he goes to sell it.

I think it will pull 5-7k...because there are not a lot of project level cars out there that look that good.

Motor...I would start it...check and see how it runs.
Then decide.

But...when I was younger, I would have been driving that car within 30 days.
So there is a market for this to get someone into the Porsche fold.
