I will be dropping my trailer at John Kinne's house around noon (or just a little later) on Thursday. He was also thinking about a caravan to Mesquite.

I'm good with all of that. Since Bob is the only one parking a trailer, He will just leave it in front of my house. Bob if your a little late we can meet up with John and Billy somewhere heading north on the I15, as meeting at Gaudin Porsche dealership would be backtracking from my house (although they do have cool cars there).
As we get closer we can text each other to finalize, both of you have my number.

The Mother Road.

Lunch on Friday will be at Boulder Dam Brewing Company.

This weekend I plan to pre-run our Saturday route and determine if lunch will be in Kingman or Topock.

I will be coming up from Laughlin and wouldn’t mind joining the caravan from Vegas to Mesquite, let me know where we are meeting.

2:00 - Gaudin Porsche. I-215 & S. Rainbow Blvd.

2:30 - Petro Travel Center. I-15 & Speedway Blvd.

All are welcome to join.

The short answer is 'Neither'.

I am glad I took the opportunity to burn a tank of gas, kill bugs and do a reconnaissance run.

1.) Most the road to Kingman is in poor condition. It was uncomfortable in the Cayman, and would have been brutal in a 914.
2.) Someone stole our plan and Rt66 Kingman/Oatman/Topoch will be clogged with a bike rally.
3.) There is no time and no good reason to include Needles.
4.)Because of what I learned, there have been modifications to our schedule and route.
5.) Most of you have plenty of driving to do on Sunday. We will now have more time to explore and enjoy Boulder City and the other interesting areas.

Went on Oscar's So Cal drive Saturday and it did not end well for me. Looks like I lost a front wheel bearing. The ride back to my trailer in Riverside was in the cab of a flat bed. Looks like the spindle did not get hurt, but I'm struggling getting whats left of the outer bearing off. Off to The 900 Series Porsche shop with the spindle to have them remove it. All that said I may have to cancel the RT66 this year, I'll be showing up in a Honda this year. Bob @bkrantz your still covered for trailer parking.

I will be joining after unloading my 914 at mxkinn01's place, probably at Petro Travel.

Mixkinn, how many miles were on those bearings?

Not totally sure, had them installed about 3 1/2 years ago (The 900 Series, guys that only work on air cooled Porsche's), so my guess is under 8-10k. Passenger side is perfect. I almost never drive with the top on and usually have ear pods in so if they were make noise I wouldn't and/or didn't hear it. I will be checking on a regular basis going forward, I have no excuses since I don't work anymore.

Mike, that should be a quick, simple repair. If you need any parts LMK. I just converted to 5 lug and have a complete 4 lug suspension. Myself, I'm waiting on a gas tank presently. .

If you want to throw this thrust washer and the M7 locking bolt (M7 is not easy to find, even my VW buddies had no success) in an envelope, I'll square up with you in Mesquite.

I think I need some solid German food before the driving starts. I will be having lunch at Cafe Berlin (4850 W. Sunset Rd.) at 1:00 before the caravan. The restaurant is 2 miles east from the Gaudin dealership. Join me if you are able.

I semi scolded Myself about taking a Honda or Toyota on this run. So worst case if the 914 isn't ready I'll be taking a car designed by Mr. Porsche (just wont go that fast). LOL

That bolt is fine and looks like you can file the edge and flip the washer. Kinda surprised the shop didn't have one.
I should have 4 washers someplace but not likely to find the hiding spot in the next 9 days. They're behind 20 years of new junk parts.

My girlfriend and I are heading to Laughlin on Wednesday where I will drop my trailer, then we are meeting up with the Vegas to Mesquite caravan on Thursday. I’ll do some last minute dialing in of the car this weekend.
