I foolishly installed the engine without paying attention to the timing marks.
I've read (out here) about the guy with a 2.0 and I see the photos shared. I have removed the FI and put on Webers. Is the timing the same for a 1.7 (punched out to 2.0)???

Timing is whatever you want it to be. Since dual Webers were never a factory option for the car, there is no "correct" factory timing.
Sure, set the timing at 27 BTDC at 3500 RPM just like stock. Or set it higher or lower--it may work better that way! Best way to figure that out is take it to a dyno and do a "timing sweep".
