just got a 911sc front end with a underbody sway, about 19mm, didnt check yet.

I have a 19mm thru body on the car.

Options:
- use the underbody as is
- put new u-tabs on the 911 control arms and use thru body.
- mix match 914/control arms with the 911 front???? Can I keep the 19mm torsions that way??

I gotta feeling the answer is cut and weld but thought I'd ask...

I believe that the SC bar is 22MM and non-adjustable. You can use your 914 A-Arms, but you have to use the 914 torsion bars.

If it were me I'd weld on the mounts and use your existing 19mm bar (for it's adjustability). You'll need a helluva rear spring to cut the understeer if you leave it all SC.

The other thought is to just put it in as is and see how it works out for you, then if needed swap bars and weld on your tabs.

Try it as it is, (not at all hard to do, just bolt it up) you might like it. Not a big deal to tie your existing arms up out of the way for a trial period. If the front end is too stiff for your rear set up, you could:

1. stiffen the rear (stiffer springs). I do not use rear anti-sway bar on our 914, just very stiff springs.

2. cut off the hoops and weld tabs on the 911 a arms, and reconnect your existing anti-sway bars which, if aftermarket, are adjustable, and can be strengthened or weakend based on arm length. The only advantage to the "through the body" anti-sway bar it its adjustability.

I measured the "new sway" it looks to be about a 19mm. Measures a little over 20. paint??. I think I'll take the try it idea. Its mainly going to be a street car with some track duty.. So adjustability is not a huge issue. But I'll hang on to the other through the test period..

Many people will argue this approach, but I like it and the video don't lie.

Early 911 underbody bar was 18mm (74-77). 20mm is what you have. I'd just weld tabs on while it's still off and use the thru-body bar. The geometry is better. Quite simple really... especially if you have a thru bar already.

I would recommend a thru-body bar in the front. I have a 160lb rear springs, 21mm Welt front bar, and stock rear bar. The set-up that Trekkor has and that I have (too a point) is a different way of thinking than some serious long-time racers out there (that is why some dissagree).

The idea is to run an oversize front sway bar (31mm) and stock torsion bars to keep the streetability and to allow for a huge range of adjustments. With large torsion bars, you can't make adjustments very quickly.

What size front torsion bars do 911SC's use? That has to be considered, along with the sway bar, when trying to keep the front and rear balanced.

Trekkor is running stock front torsion bars and a 31mm Smart Racing through body sway bar.
