uh if I got your question right, the trunk light only turns on with the headlights, or running lights.

LOL, it's a trick question...the engine light in particular seems to only work on "a few" of the 914's left in the world. But IIRC yes the circuit is wired to the headlight circuit; would have to reference a wiring diagram to confirm and you may want to grab one from the bird board or Haynes manual.

almost like the designers *knew* that I'd be out fixing my car on the side of the road at midnight....
