I showed up for the annual Alabama Region PCA Polar Bear Run Saturday Morning. The person dressed up as a polar bear during the driver's meeting turned out to be the Executive Director of the PCA, Vu Nguyen, to present me with a new car!

It is still hard to believe this really happened!

I vote YES!

Long term 914 owner.

New Porsche won from PCA!

Cool story!

You do need a license plate bracket that says "My REAL Porsche is a 914"...

Well it is hard to believe but give me a month or so to get things sorted and I will update the group.

The car allocated is one of the two in the picture. However, we can go on the Porsche Car Configurator and design a base Boxster or Cayman. We get to pick the color and some options. Vu said we would only remember 10% of what he told us that day so he is sending the instructions.

More to come later...

I just showed this to Betty.

She said "How appropriate. A 914 person wins a Boxster.... Or as I like to call it 'Son of 914'".

Congratulations!

I'm very excited for you guys. Nothing, like a brand-new Porsche.

Enjoy. Just curious, are you good at winning raffles? Or lottery kind of things? Some people are just lucky that way in their life’s

Congratulations!

I agree with Betty about the evolution of the 914. I never take the top off my teener, for a number of reasons, and consider my Cayman to be the grand grand grand child of my 914! beer.gif

Awesome that you won! Congratulations!

I think it should be a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be driving my 914”.

Awesome!

Is it cool to bring a new Boxster to a 914 event?

Is it rust-free? idea.gif

We feel lucky now! It is still hard to believe. Maybe we should purchase lottery tickets, but I think PCA lottery tickets are a much better bet.

We purchased two PCA raffle tickets at $50 each. PCA gave away (6) cars for the fall raffle and if my math is correct, it looks like we had about a two in 33,500 chance of winning. Since we purchased two raffle tickets it was a one in 16,750 chance of winning a grand prize. The odds of winning the lottery are one in 292.2 Million so it looks like the PCA raffle has much better odds of winning than playing the lottery.

OFFICIAL RULES 1. Entries will be sold only to PCA members listed in the PCA database at the time of purchase. To be eligible to win a prize, you must be a PCA member listed in the PCA membership database at the time of the drawing. Entries may not be assigned, transferred, or sold either before or after the drawing.
After11,000 entries are sold, additional Grand Prizes (2025 718 Cayman or Boxster + $25,000 Cash Prize) will be added for every additional 4,500 entries sold. The odds of winning will depend upon the total number of entries sold. All entries received by December 13, 2024, will be accepted into the raffle.

It seems the PCA Raffle is a much better bet!

Good Luck!

Kelvin

Update to the Fall PCA Raffle: We have designed our 718 Boxster and production is scheduled to start April 9, 2025 at the old Karmann factory in Osnabrück, Germany. This is the same factory where our 914s were produced 50 years ago. blue914.jpg

The manufacturing process is scheduled for completion on my birthday - May 6th. We expect to take delivery at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta sometime between May 24, 2025 and August 30, 2025. Just in time for Okteenerfest 2025.

We took delivery of our new Boxster 718 July 11th at the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Atlanta. This was an incredible experience where they treated our family like royalty from 8 a.m. until about 2:30 p.m. when we drove home. We felt very fortunate to have taken delivery at the PEC because they only delver two cars per day (one morning and one afternoon delivery).

Donna and I both had driving instruction and my instructor (Chance Morris) was a stunt driver who has been in a few movies. The track experience was outstanding with simulated track conditions for rain and snow. They even taught us how to drift the car. aktion035.gif

I always thought I was just helping to fund other peoples dreams each time I purchased raffle tickets. Never convinced I would win, I always enjoyed watching the PCA videos and the surprise on the faces of those who won.

You just never know... I still purchase two tickets each time and may be helping to fund a car for you.

In the spring raffle, PCA added an additional car to give away for every 7,700 additional tickets sold over the initial 16,500 tickets sold. So your chances are reasonably good compared to other give aways.

Another member of the Alabama Region of the PCA won a car in the Spring Raffle this time.

Good luck in the PCA Fall Raffle!
