I am exploring the possibility of twin plugging my 2.7 liter engines and I am currently looking into the various ignition systems. I would like to go with a traditional distributor and one alternative that has my interest is a modified standard distributor with a Jaguar cap and rotor. Has anyone else heard of doing this? Are there any links to informative sites? Here is a link to one I found:

Any help will be appreciated.

can you adapt a 3.6 twin plug distributor to the 2.7? At the $300 for a friggin dizzy cap, I would be looking for other alternatives - as if it is that highly priced you can be assured it will only get higher.

agree.gif I have done it with a RSR distributor and crankfire. I now use my 3.6 distributor as a paperweight.

that looks nice....no dizzy and just a optical pickup for the firing of the plugs?

and the tranny cooler idea is cool.....how well does that tilton pump work? and how do you mount the spray bars in the tranny so that pesky and uber expensive main bearing cools off?

sorry for the hijack....

The Tilton pump works well on a friends 3.8 914-6. The larger the cooler the better the pump functions. My mechanic did the spray bar and I do not have a picture of it, however there is a picture of one in Bruce Andersons 911 Performance Book. I should have mine hooked up later this month.

Actually,
The one that Rennsport is selling is ours (Carquip). It is a Jaguar Marelli cap on a distributor that we are manufacturing. They are available in both 27 and 30mm sizes and both clockwise and counterclockwise rotation, so they will work on any of the Porsche 6's. We also have harnesses to set up to use 3 pin, 6pin or MSD ignition, depending on your needs...

We are also producing an adapter so that you could use this cap on a factory RSR distributor, if you had one. As it stands now, the cap will not work with the factory distributors.

If anyone has any questions about them, please feel free to contact me directly...
