I stay out of AA bashing threads and I don't want this to turn into that, if it does I'll delete the thread. My position is that any company today that supports the 914 is helping us out in some way, including AA. I have a had a couple satisfactory transactions with AA and I want to keep it that way. I posted this for the laugh value to clubmembers only.
You may have seen this decal before, but it came up on ebay again....No one is perfect but come on Greg, you are supposed to be an authority...this is too much buddy...It should be obvious what the issue is with this decal...Do you really sell many of these? You really should destroy all your inventory of these...

Wait I have one of those in my yard. I bet POrsche or VW would buy this one back for a pretty penny. It only has a little rust. Maybe AA would make me a better offer.

I'll take a stab at this one. Ummmmmm, they didn't offer the 1.7L in 74. The engine code on the decal is EC, should be 1.8L if I remember correctly. Hey, even the pros make mistakes.

That has nothing to do with the sticker. The sticker looks correct to me. EC / 1974 = 1.8
Please one of you guys in the know, please tell me what's the obvious thing wrong with the sticker. Your killing me here.

Sorry Bjorn, you don't win anything. Mainly because there is nothing wrong with the sticker. As far as I can tell (unless one of you experts point something out I'm missing) this is a correct sticker for the engine compartment of a 1974 914 1.8.

Actually, I just took a look at the sticker in my car, a 2.0L, and fuel injection is spelled fuel injektion. Crazy Germans can't even spell. They're almost as bad as the French. In French, chapeau means hat. Oeuf means egg. It's like those French have a different word for everything.
God I love Steve Martins old stuff.

I took the statement of the trasmission in neutral to mean an automatic transmission. Manual transmissions should need this explaination. You can't really set the idle in any other way.

I got to thinking about this sticker some more...
Both my 1974 cars have the original sticker...They have Red text, not black. If this sticker is supposed to be NOS and original, and this image is a scan of the sticker, it should be in the correct color. Then why is the text black...?

Just a side comment (as I know nothing about 4cyl cars) the ebay ad is for "GT AUTO PARTS & PERFORMANCE" not "AA".
It may be worth giving "GT" a shot at this.

second, it *is* a VW engine, so that makes kind of sense, doesn't it?

WOW
Some of your guys have too much internet time at work! I hope I have corrected some of the errors that were so politely pointed out.
I'm still building the website. Any positive suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. Hopefully I can persuade some of you to be my customers. If not, that is fine too. I've always thought the idea was to keep the cars up and running.
Thanks to everyone out there who has been supportive both publically and privately.

Many of us are old enough to have had these cars throughout their life, so should have some idea of what business is about. George Hussey and Auto Atlanta have been there for many years, and they've been there to turn a profit. They've been helpful and supportive, even if not always the best for shipping on time. Often I would find parts there that no one else had available.
As these cars age, any supplier that can help keep them on the road should be applauded. If you've stopped by a Porsche dealer lately, try to find any parts for the 914 that aren't NLA. If they are available, the prices are often shocking.
We should all be carefull shoppers, check what prices and quality are before buying. I think that any bashing of suppliers that help keep the flame alive is not in our best interest. No financial gain on my part, but who else took the time to print tech tip books, 914-6 conversion manuals, etc, etc. Remember, the internet wasn't always there to give us this access to information.
Just my 2 cents worth, thanks for reading.

But I would like to make a comment! I have bought new and used parts from AA and they have very poor business practices. Sent wrong part twice, used parts-dirty and in poor condition, said they sent parts- 20 phone calls/three weeks later cancelled order. I am not against a company making a profit!!! It's just a shame!!!!!!!
I would really like to see another company show AA how it should be done! The 914 is a great car
and It should have a great company behind it.
I think that was my three cents worth!!!
