Shit! I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it in my car. I was just driving around and a loud noise just started happening as mentioned in my post. I'm really worried about the car, so I don't think I'll be able to make it for the breakfast on saturday. Sorry guys.

James, I intend to arrive early but unfortunatly can't stay for breakfast. I need to be in Cupertino at 10:00am.
See you in the lot for coffee.

You folks do realize you don't have to show up in a 914, right? I showed up in my CRX for years... Might even do it again for this one, though due to logistics (which car is parked where) rather than car problems.

On second thought, not sure if I'm up to it - I'll likely have the only 914 in attendance - what fun is that?

Looks like I won't be able to make it after all.
I got stuck with the weekend pager at work. Have fun. Maybe I'll be able to drive the teener to the next one.

It's looking like there are no barriers to bringing the car.
I did loose my little silencer insert jobbie so it's louder than uh .. a 914.. but it's still quiter than anything made by Harley ever, so I don't think I'll get arrested for noise pollution.

I'm in, I can even bring the 914. This will be it's longest drive so far.
Hey Mike - I will bring the computer stuff with me.

How long you'zall planning on being there?

I'm sure we'll be there past 10:30. I have nothing until noon-ish, and several people seem to want to do a run afterwards to the coast. I'd be surprised if we actually sit down before 10, based on past experience.

That seemed very successful to me. About 16 people showed, along with 6 914s, and the weather was excellent.
Fiid brought his turbo Soob powered 914, which was running better by the time he left than it was when he showed up. Congrats to Jeff (jkeyser) for sussing out an ignition problem.
Jeff Bowlsby arrived in his fake LE "grasshopper" (as opposed to his real LE "bumblebee").
Most of the usual suspects arrived: McMark, DD, Mueller, Gwen, Tom, Jon. Nice to see everyone again.
I didn't bring a camera, but there were a few around, and I'm sure photos will be up soon.
I'm heavily biased on the location (I live about 2 miles away), but it appeared to work out well, so perhaps it should go into rotation as a regular site for breakfasts, along with the Santa Clara IHOP, and the San Jose McD's. Perhaps we need to find an acceptable location in the East Bay, too?

Agreed on the location (and I live in San Jose). Nice change of scenery, easy access to the highway, etc.
And there's another IHOP at the east bay side of the Dumbarton bridge I believe. We had eats there once when Brad was living in the neighborhood.
Great job James. Nice to see everybody but Andy, he never showed up. He's probably busy hugging his new engine.

Awesome. Turns out the problem with my car wasn't the tach - it was dodgy crimping.... grrr.
Anyways - Hope to have many more breakfasts in the new year with runs attached to them
Here's some pics: This is Jim's car - he had his paint and body done in TJ, and it looks awesome.

Great time at IHOP today.
FIID reminded me what this whole car hobby is about - having fun with our cars. It looked like kids in a candy store while everyone looked on while the megasquirt was being tuned in the parking lot.
Some of the talk went along the lines of "I love the K-jet system" ---- "yeah but K-jet is about as sophisticated as a lawn sprinkler" --- "that's why I like it" --- "most of us like these old cars because they don't have computers in them and look at that" (points at FIID's laptop)
I loved it.
When is the next one????

thanks for putting this together James....
even without a 914 to drive the breakfast, it is still a joy to kick tires and admire/make fun of other 914s and thier owners
Fiids car sounded pretty darn good once he figured out the little electrical glich....at idle the car was not loud, yet it had low frequences that actually made it feel like it was shaking the ground...very cool
cannot wait till you sort it out and start giving demo rides.....

I leave it to others to decide on an East Bay location. I'd say somewhere in Berkeley or E-ville would be ideal, perhaps as far south as San Leandro. Combined with Foster City and Santa Clara, that should cover the bases very nicely for a regular gathering, plus some special meets 1-2 times per year in, say, Napa so McMark and Trekkor could show up w/o having to drive over 100 miles.
Jenny
Dec 12 2005, 03:49 PM
Trekkor doesn't show up unless there's timers, cones and flags involved.
