Found this on JC Whitney site while doing a search for "valve". If the link doesn't work, it's on p2 of the search results.

Looks just like my old 1.8's but says it's for a VW 411. Much cheaper than another source I checked.

yes, they work. i had one on my previous 1.8L D-Jet ...

until i figured out that the AAR and the decel valve are just unneeded balast that is prone to vacuum leaks.

my temporary 1.7L came with both as well, took them off the first chance i got. the idle will be a bit low when cold, but as soon as the engine is warmed up, it runs great.
no decel valve helps dropping the rpm faster on decel (duh!), which is gud too, IMHO ...

Yes, I've seen that as well and wondered. My car definitely needs the AAR as it will die without the extra air when she's cold.
