Oh I remember now!!!

My little sister showed up over the weekend and started to tear the motor apart.

clap56.gif

She's better with a screw driver than most guys twice her age and she can't even driving-girl.gif yet.

She was the one that went with me and dad to go and get the car.

Now the bad news, It looks like the motor is froze. I'll know better as I get it farther apart, but I think a rebuild or replace is in order.

Maybe new pistons and jugs, and a little bump in compression while I'm in there. A good cam from Jake and a bit of carb tuning and I might just have a decient little runner.

Any way on with the pics.

And now a friendly reminder:

Pittsburgh BBQ is in 1 month. 6/24

Open to all comers, even you left coast guys biggrin.gif

So just hop in the car and head on out here. PM me for directions.

This is why I'm tearin it apart.

There was water in the oil when I drained it, and rust in the cylinders.

There she is ready to be disasembled.

So take a tub, very hot water, and some super clean (from Walmart).

Right on man. Your sister must rock! Ya think it will be back together before the 24th? You should take the engine cases, crank, and rods to a VW shop to have them checked. They could just use a cleaning and resizing ato be good to go.

Its a 1.8 if you are still wondering. Nice work on everything BTW, I'm impressed.
fitsbain
So does anyone out there have a good 1.8 head?

The passanger side one is pretty messed up. I willn't be able to use it unless I pay to get it rebuilt.

I actually had a complete 1.8 in great shape. Sold it to Jim Kelly(a member here) I do not think he is using it (hint, hint)
Dr Evil
Heck no Jim is not using it, unless it was a suby. I think that he sold it already, though. If not, I can maybe help ferry it out to you.
nomore9one4
If he has it I would get it. I wish I would not have sold it! mad.gif

WRX914 - nice car!!!

Well A little update:

I haven't got much welding done as of late. Things at home ave been a bit busy.

I have been working on the motor and decieded that it is toast. All cleaned up but still dead. So it is on it;s way out to another member that needs parts.

I have a fresh 3K mile 2.0 allready all done coming from GA.

And I just bought my second 914. It was from an evilbay auction that someone posted about. Don't think it is a club member selling it. I'll try and convert him when I pick it up on Sunday.

Looks like it has all the stuff I neeed to fix the HH, and seats and a good dash. Even has a good bat tray. Mine might have to become the parts doner (after all that work headbang.gif ).

So we will have lots of stuff to do at the BBQ.

Also comes with a set of 2.0 SSI's.

Grand total - $264 plus gas to Rochester NY and a traler from UHAUL to get it home. And food for dad since he is helping (again).

Guess I really am sick - and it all your fault, All of you out there that got me into this.
