My first ride had a crappy Anza exhaust.....it was WAY too restrictive and was clogged with rust and other crud. I replaced it with a Bursch....worked a lot better. It was still a slow as molassess 1.7 but it revved to 6K....

what induction system? carbs or efi?

Check your EFI trigger points. My 2.0L had the same symptoms and the trigger points took care of it. biggrin.gif
