Hass anyone hooked up a hose to the stock intake box (fuel injection) and ran it to a place where cooler air could be found? I was thinking about running a hose from the intake, to the grill and zip-tying it so the air sucked into the intake would be cooler. Is this a worthy idea, or would I need to locate a different are to get air that is even cooler?

I don't know if you want to try this but take a look:

A local guy that does track days and AXs put an airfoil device on the roof of his 914 that directs air down at the top of the engine grill. He was having heat problems on the track. He says this fixed that prob.
I'll make sure to get a pic next time I see him.

You need to revioew Chuxters tests:

John Rogers, over on the Pelican BBS, also has the deflector across the back of the roof panel. He says that's the only way he could get the 2.8 four-banger to not overheat. (That, and the FAT 911 fan setup.)

You can catch a couple of pics (not very good though) of it in the "John Rogers Racing" Pelican Tech articles.

LOL!!! laugh.gif I've been waiting for someone to say something...

The folks I stayed with over the weekend had picked that up, and I was helping them put it up on the wall as decoration. I decided to see if it fit--it did...

If you are running in stock class just take the air filter out before worrying about cold air intake to the air filter housing, Chris.
