Full Version: front suspension woes
914World.com > The 914 Forums > 914World Garage
SirAndy
sooo, i'm getting ready for a alignment of the car and i'm having a problem with my front suspension.
i knew the car was hit in the front.
i knew the 911 front suspension came out of a car that was hit in the front.

now, the front suspension mount on the pass. side (A-Arm) does not line up correctly.
the mount is supposed to be a tight fit with the bushing and the a-arm "stop".
but it's about 1/4 to 1/2 inch off. altough it is tight, no play.
something is obviously bent.

how can i find out if either my tub is bend or if the pass a-arm (or worse, the cross member) is bend?
anyone has some measurements?

i do have a stress-crack in the chassis right next to that mount.
but i'm not sure if that was from the crash or additional stress of a bend suspension or what.

help!

There are measurements in a few places I think. I just saw some on the mittlemotor.de website. I think Pelican Parts also has it on line. Failing them, I have the workshop manuals with all the data at home. You should start looking for a spare set of A-arms. I've seen several rot out over the past several years.

The measurements are in the shop manuals. You can also find them at:

...And also wherever the mirror on the 914club site is. wink.gif
