So, I am taking off the rear suspension bits. What size is the bolt that connect the shock to the rear control arm. Also, what size are the two bolts (or bolt / nut) that connect the control arm to the body of the car?

I have metric wrences up to 17mm, and these are bigger then then that. Haynes did not have the size when I looked. So beofre I go out and spend money on large meteric wrenches that I may never use, I thought I'd ask here.

my car is a 76, if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Shock bolts are 22 mm as I remember .... the others may be the same.

An SAE wrench will fit, but I don't remember the size until I go to use it.

Haha, yeah 27mm. I went to HF today to get some cheap larger metric wrenches. Any how, the set had all the sizes between 15 and 26.

D'oh!

The 22mm wrench is for removing the rear control arms.

I ended up using a pipe wrench to take them off. Diddn't even round off the nuts doing it.

Woo-hoo. My car is now, officially, just a tub. It goes on the rotisserie tomorrow.

On a side note, I know suspension is heavy, but I always forget just how heavy it is.
