Just got the flares on and I haven't convert the hubs to 5lug yet. But lining up the wheel, it looks like a tight fit. Do I need to roll the fenders (some or alot) before painting?

Running 9x15 rears on my FG flared V8 so it's at least do-able !!!

Did you roll the fender lip?
If I need to for sure, I rather do it before paint goes on.
nomore9one4
I would roll it while you can . It all depends on how hard you corner and the actual diameter of your tire you use. I shaved the fiberglass on my flares and it was a good thing I did. smile.gif

I rolled mine before painting, why not, got 17/9's on order from ccw, i'll let ya know how it works out.
ClayPerrine
I have 16x9s on the rear of my car and they fit just fine...... No clearance problems at all.

The AA flairs are designed with 7's and 9's in mine, that said check with a

tape measure and a straight edge. Measure from mateing edge(where the hub/

rotor meets the wheel) to the outer lip of the wheel, than from the hub/rotor

to a straight edge laid across the outside of the wheel opening of the flair.

subtract the lip measurement and compare.

What lip are you rolling?

9s will fit, depending on what your backspacing is and if the flares are installed correctly. Most people get flares right and I'm sure you will too, but it is a conceivable problem. wink.gif

The fender edge that folds straight in - towards the center of the car.
It's about 1/2 - 3/4 inch. If there is contact, it would be sidewall and that edge. I could bend it up for more clearance - no experience on how difficult that is.
The guage of the AA flares seems thicker then the OEM guage.

ClayPerrine - did you have to roll the edge?

clay - where did you get 16x9's? they are like 2000 a pair LOL

nice score....

BTW - 9's should be an easy fit... 10's are the fun ones to fit... LOL

Ebay... They are 951 wheels...

The guy who sold them took them off the 944 turbo 3 months after buying it to put on OZ wheels. They sat in his attic for years, undisturbed. He found them 2 years after he sold the car, and put them up on Ebay. All of them were straight and true, and they came with the original center caps.

They were not cheap, but they were worth it. And NO, I didn't pay 2000.000 for the set of 4.

uhmm.. i think 951's had 951 8's and 951 7's... no 9's

I have Fuch 16 x 7 fronts and 16 x 9 rears on my 914 with factory flares (I don't know if there is a difference between the factory and AA flares) with 225/50 front tires and 245/45 tires in the back. The 16 x 9 rear Fuches came on either a 911 with the optional "turbo-look" package (and some of those had 16 x 8 rears, just to make things more complicated) and 911 Turbos. I'm nit-picking a bit differentiating between a 911 and a 911 turbo, but the wheels have diffetent part nubmers stamped on them.
If you want to see some pics of the car with the big wheels and tires (in case you want visual proof), I have a few posted at http://www.sawyersmotorsports.com/914page.html .

Don,
Nice! Did you have to roll your rear fender lips?
BTW, what color (orange or red) is that?
siverson
I also have 16x9s in the rear and with a 1/4" spacer (to clear C2T rear calipers). The fit fine, but I would -highly- recommend fitting the suspension and wheels before mounting the flares. That way you can just push & pull the factory fenders so it all fits correctly.
