i put these on today and was pretty sure i had rolled and stretched the rear enough, and did according to the unmolested chalk marks on the tire.

the front how ever, i didn't anticipate any problems. well a 60 series would have been better choice. very little room on slight turn at front fender, i had to trim and adjust my le spoiler and use a little persuasion.

now it looks almost like a friggin 4x4. i shoulda gone with 60s or 55 series.
but it is nice to have a correct speedo.

a 65 series is huge!!!!!

going offroading?
205/60 is about stock diameter (still huge)
try a 55 for better offline accel (~4-6% shorter)

i had 195-50 15s and was tired of running an indicated 80-90 mph on the freeway to keep up. but yes they were quick out of the hole.

you went from one extreme to the other.....

205/55 are bitchin for street or even 205/60 (too tall imho... ) but 65's... im surprised they even fit with bug offset wheels

by the way i bought bfg traction ta hr. researched for traction , turn in response, road noise, and all weather use.
they are quieter, turn nice, traction will have to wait till the release compond wears off,and the nubs wear off.
they fit the 5.5 rim nicely.

i used the tire calc. and it said that they would be the same dia. as stock.

I'm getting ready for a tire purchase and I like the sound of this setup- except for the speedo side-effect. Is there any possible remedy for the speedo and odometer to make it normal?

The VW American mags on Suzi have 195/65's. Close, but works, and dead on speedo/odo. They suck at the track, but sure were nice for the trip. The 205/50's are mucho more fun.

225/50 on 8" fuchs solved my problem LOL

i ran for years on 205/50 and you are right, freeway speed = more rpm.... but you gain a whole bunch in cornering ability with shorter sidewalls, and you pick up some grunt outta the hole...

short side wall doesnt mean more grip. it just feels like the turn in is quicker responding.

So I take it there is no remedy for the speedo. Probably an age old debate I missed out on?

Well, I learned that I have too much motor and suspension and not enough tire. The PO mounted passenger tire 185 65HR 15 that have wayyyy too much flex - especially at the cornering capacity the teener has. I have stock narrow body and plan to leave it that way - so I'm looking at 195 50R 15 Kumhos. What do ya think?? hijacked.gif

205/50's should fit on stock Fuchs. But each car and tire is a little different.

You can send it out to places like North Hollywood Speedometer and have it calibrated.

BTW, I'm running 205-55's on 15x6 Fuchs and they fit well.
SLITS
Have run 205/65's on Fuchs for about 4 years .... stock rolling diameter (25.4") and no problems.
