I had inquired a few weeks ago about the best source for fiberglass Gt bumpers and valances. I ended up going with Getty. Someone on the board had asked to reply on the fit. The front bumper did not need to much adjustment, slight sanding of the edges to fit. The valance had to be heathed with a propane torch and slightly bent but It ended up fitting well. I would definetly use Getty again. Attached are the mock up pics of the bumper and valance. Also attached are the pics of the oil cooler system that started the whole process.

Thanks for the kind words, I wish the car had more wear and tear but I have not had much luck with motors, so it while I wait It gets a lot of TLC.

Do not insult us with such clean looking car pics, we know they have been doctored up with Adobe or something like that. What do you take us for boufons?

beer.gif I send a Jihad prayer of filth to come upon you!! I have spoken!!
Qarl
Did the Getty bumpers come with the mounts attached, or did you have to glass them in?
Racing916
Thanks again. Qarl, I had to glass them In and fiddle with them in order to get them to fit correctly. That was the hardest part.

My car aspires to be like yours!!! wink.gif (same color but '75 heavy rubber baby buggy bumpers!)

Did you do the rear bumper as well? How did it fit?

Have you thought about rear lower valances? If any?
maf914
Wow! Nice work. The car looks great.

I'm interested in what is required to mount the FG bumpers. Any chance you could take a few photos of the backside of the bumpers with the brackets in place? Thanks.

I also just recently put on Getty bumpers (less than 2 months ago). I had basically the same experience. Glassing on the mounts was the most time consuming part, and I had to do some minor fitment adjustments. I still have to file down some trim where the fog light grilles go, but I'm very pleased so far.

Definitely worth their price.

I hate to ask the obvious but... WHY?
jimtab
Clean car alright but did anyone else notice it's obviously been on the stands too long....it's leaking DUST...that's the only foreign substance I can see under the car....it's out of oil obviously.... biggrin.gif

I was the one asking about the Getty quality. Looks great, and your car..even better. Super!
Matt Romanowski
Steve, Great looking car. I was just about to say you've been hanging out with Jack too much, then I realized....
Racing916
Hi Matt, Thanks, yeah my dad rubs off on me a little or alot, I will tell him you said hello. He can not access 914club at work anymore sad.gif , he must have nothing to do all day.

Hey Andy why a Rotary fuel pump? benefits? We are going to be running a carbed 2.7 with bigger pistons and E cams in it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the compliments, it is leaking dust bad.... smile.gif I almost wish it was leaking oil again.

maf914, mounting the front brackets for the bumper was a royal pain. First we mounted the brackets to the car and tryed to fit the bumper over them in order to see where they needed to be glassed in, however there was a large gap between the bumper and the bracket. We had to space the brackets using partical board. Than glassed them into place.

BKLA, I had a 916 rear bumper that came down around the fender. I lopped of the bottom of it so it would fit better, I will take a pic of the mounts and post them for you. I am not sure who made the rear bumper, but it did come with a cool oil covered sticker that read "eat my road kill"

sanity?

i know it's a race car and all, but those faucett pumps are LOUD. and i mean L O U D ... tak tak tak TAK TAK TAK

the rotary pumps work just as good, but you can barely hear them ...

i had the exact pump you have now and it drove me nuts. the $50 for the rotary pump was some of the best money ever spend on my car ...
