How can you open the engine lid when the cable is broken and/or stuck??
This is on the parts car, I don't care about the lid but I would like to not damage the grill if possible.

Drill out the bolts holding the latch mechanism to the trunk partition. You can access the bolts from the trunk side. Everyone owns a drill. Then clip the wire retaining the latch pull cable. Sounds easy Peter

You also might be able to trip the lock from the top with a thin screwdriver. You have to come in from an angle to catch the lock dogs and push them open.

Take the seats and back pad out. Cut a 18 inch hole in the fire wall. Crawl in and fix the latch.
