Curious here. ALL 914 whackos are detail oriented. Deny it if you want, but you're detail oriented.

Race? Probably more detail oriented than anyone. Ounces=lost time.

CW - nothing else needed to be said.

Restorer? see above.

But......who else has something in life besides Porsche? You do, don't you?

Family? Extremely important. Buddies? very important.

What are your non-Porsche interests?

Classic rock, contemporary rock, baloons, slot cars, ....what?

You DO have other interests, right?

Share them? Pic's are great, too.

Recording studio- sweet! I have a small pro-tools set up, and way too many guitars, and not enough time. smile.gif

BTW, why are people beating each other up in your studio? Foley work?

School take up alot of my time (mechanical engineering student)

I really love mountain biking and sailing. I really wish I had some good pictures of me flying in my sunfish . . . the boat keel is always at least at a 60 degree angle to the water laugh.gif The only one who consistently will ride with me is my girlfriend biggrin.gif

I also like woodworking and all forms of construction (though most if a little forced like Chunger's).

I was just mocking up a recording studio for a friend's garage in Sketchup. Construction later this month smile.gif Needed some people in the model to get a feel for the space. . . see if it'll actually work. I thought the fighting guys were cool. Guy on the couch is smoking a fatty.

School, I'm studying EE. This takes up a huge amount of time even though I'm still just doing my lower division work.

I also like fooling about with computers and things, I run the site http://www.thextremeresources.com The site used to be much bigger, but the old site died, and the hosting company wouldn't sell us the domain so we had to change it slightly and we've lost like 90% of our members in the transition.

I don't have time (or am in the wrong place for many of my hobbies), but they include diving, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, woodworking, and aquariums. I also enjoy collecting fountain pens.

I really don't get into marksmanship or camping - I've done enough of that at work.

I spend most of my time here at work, tending to my servers and network.

When I am not working on 914s, I have honeydos around the house. I also like flying, and I have a license. I just need to get current.

Travel is my main hobby ... I try to take 3 vacations a year, and at least one of those out of the country.

This year is Skiing (another hobby) in Park Cities UT, Trip to Vietnam for 16 days in June and Christmas in London England (where I used to live).

Other hobbies include 3D graphics and animation and Tai Chi. That is when I'm not doing SOMETHING to the house.

Me? I am in Construction so home remodeling projects are next on the list after the cars.

My hobby is traveling! Yes, thats a purpleheart log and I am wearing a 914 shirt.
We carcamp during the summer so Westy Camping is this years plan.
Zach (Monique's 15yr old) is into Boy Scouts, Snoboarding so I assist at the Troop and ski with him.
The MPS repairs takes up alot of my hobby time, trying to come up with a reasonable diaphram repair. blink.gif

My main hobby is my job.. medicine. It consumes me. Terrible, I know but I have done it for the last 30 years. I work 6 days a week. My other hobbies are scuba diving, photography, of course cars, and computers. I belong to the Speedsters forum and now this one. I used to enjoy travel, will do so again after I get the last child thru college. I enjoy my dogs and am looking forwards to my next 914 aquisition (V8).

I am a marathon runner.

I ran 2977 miles in 2006.
Borderline
Most of my other interests have taken a backseat to the teener, so to speak. My wife and I race our sailboat doublehanded on SF bay. Borderline just won her class in the Three Bridge Fiasco. It's a strange race where you sail around marks at the 3 main bridges (Golden Gate, Bay, and Richmond-San rafael).

My other interests are biking, surfing (when my shoulder is feeling ok), and kayaking.
pbanders
Jeez...
  • Porsches (just bought a Boxster in additon to my 914) and BMW's, BMWCCA member and I'm rejoining PCA

  • Astronomy - have an 8" Dob, another smaller scope, several binocs - awesome viewing site at our house in the prarrie outside of Flagstaff

  • Bicycling - I raced bicycles on and off since I was 13, still get in about 3000 miles per year, just riding these days
  • Home Theater - have two setups, one with an HTPC I configured
  • Computers and Home Automation - multiple PC's on home network, networked A/V sharing, X-10 home automation integrated with our security system
  • Family - wife and two kids (7 and 9) keep me busy, busy, busy, lots of activities and family stuff
  • Work - principal engineer at Intel working on global collaboration solutions, previous life at Intel was as a silicon microcontamination specialist for our factories and TD

... and probably a dozen other minor things I can't think of right now.

Oh, and I like to watch TV and sleep.

Ran roadrace karts for 25 years. Won last regional championship in '02, then retired and sold everything a year later. Been in and around racing my entire life; dabbled in stock cars and dry lake stuff. Went through all the usual hobby stuff; skiing, fishing, dirt bikes (still have one), backpacking, etc. Otherwise, the 914 LS1 V8 swap is my hobby for now. It does extend into the hobby/skill stuff like designing and machining, fabrication and welding. Too old to chase women any more (well I can chase, but what do I do if I catch one?), but did that ever classify as a hobby?

Andys
army dude

Well, I used to play darts on leagues and went to tournaments alot but being here has stopped that for now. Other interests are,

- medical field specializing in trauma, been in it since 84
-sports medic for a few rodeo cricuits in the south east
-work fire/rescue/medical at race tracks like Road Atlanta and Atlanta Speedway
-safety diver for power boat tour races
-shooting many many guns which I own quite a few
-body sculpting, not body building, big difference going for symetry
-80's music
-and last but not least.....women!!

Wow, what a diverse group with a great common denominator (914’s).

For fun I sail (cruse and race) in beautiful Narragansett bay and RI sound. I’ve also done some blue water sailing on classic yachts (12-meter Gleam).

I am also a musician (there’s a lot of us on this forum) and play lead guitar in a kick-ass classic rock band. We are setting up a studio and will soon be recording some original music.

Right now I'm concentrating on keeping my daughter on track for college next fall. This would be easier if she didn't have hormones.

As for the things I like doing...

Motorcycles - I'm a member of www.vfrdiscussion.com and have a 2003 Honda Interceptor. I also have a 1972 Honda CB350F in a partial state of restoration.

Martial arts - Been studying tang soo do for about 19 years

Brewing - Like a couple others here I've discovered the benefits of brewing my own beer! Better than what you can buy.

I also like any kind of fishing and usually get out out into the Chesapeake a couple of times a year.

And I wouldn't call her a hobby, but my sweet lady takes up a lot of my time. Or I should say I give it to her freely. biggrin.gif

My work takes much of my time.(Natural gas pipeline and appliance technician)

When I manage to get some spare, I repair submersible water pumps, get to fix all of the neighbours tools and toys, construction work (ex-carpenter).

My own personal time is: fishing, hunting, atv, and backyard mechanic.

Meanwhile the teener waits, and waits, and...
