I'm trying to incorporate potential future upgrade steps into my 73 rebuild.
Is it possible to safely use 4 lug wheels on an early 4 lug hub that has been drilled to a 5 lug pattern.
If this can be done now, it will save this conversion step when/if I convert to a 5 lug set up in the future.
thanks

Other people may know something I don't, but I wouldn't do that.
And after thinking a minute, I can't see why you would, because you have to take them off to press studs in anyhow.

One of the holes would be cleaned out in prep for the pressed stud, and usually, if they are prepped for 5 lug they will have all the studs in them which you wouldn't want to pull.
Either:
A. Pick up a set of non-modified 4 lug hubs for temp use*, or
B. Pick up some Cookie cutters or other inexpensive wheel to run on the back until you are ready to buy your final set of wheels.
*keep in mind you will be buying wheel bearings anytime you swap these out.

There are really CHEAP five lug steel wheels you can use in the interim.....I have a set rusting on the side of the house....
