Full Version: Finding TDC?

I've had my engine apart and need to find TDC for #1. I do not have my flywheel on. Which of the two fan marks is TDC and which is the timing mark? One is slightly larger.

When #1 piston is at the top and the valves are closed is TDC.

on a stock unmolested 1.7 and 2.0 fan there should be a large "0"

but then you need to make sure be pulling the driver side valve cover and making sure the #1 valves are closed.

cylinder one is driver side towards flywheel.

A chopstick works very well to tell when the piston is at TDC

The mark nearest the thick rib on the fan is the 28 degree BTDC mark, the other one (either a line or a "0") is the TDC mark. The Cap'n
