Dr. Roger
I was getting consistent missing and a couple of fouled plugs even after a complete ignition system inspection and plug change.

Pertronix working perfectly.

Hot coil working perfectly.

New cap, rotor, wires, and plugs.

New Edelbrock 750cfm mechanical secondary carb. Settings "close enough".

Mallory dizzy. Recurved. (huge difference, I might ad)

Fresh rings/heads.

quick edit: no air cleaner.

I won't let myself live this one down for years.... blink.gif

Any guesses as to what was causing the fouled plugs?

hydraulic lifters weren't lashed right on the exhaust on those 2 cylinders?

1.) You installed the rings upside down.

2.) Plug gap was to small.a

3.) It's a V8.

4.) Your hand slipped off whist googling the Ladies calendar.

Is this what you would call a dramatic pause? Give it up already.

TROY!

you called it. clap56.gif

after static valve adjustment I never went back and readjusted the valves.

3 were tight. chair.gif

this one error caused the engine to run hotter, less power (obviously), missing, fouling plugs, some back firing ( slap.gif ), and rough idling. dry.gif

i hope someone can benefit from my experience. smile.gif

I ain't adjusted valves in 30,000 miles and only changed oil once in that time.
