They are different from the regular gauge bulbs, they don't have a metal contact base, but just glass bottoms with the two metal wires for contact (like a xmas tree bulb)
Where to buy these please

Osram number, used in many cross-references, is "2721". (1.2w, 12v). I stock 'em. I partially agree, some of them are a different number, and are soldered or otherwise permanently affixed. The Cap'n

Pelican has them too if you cant find them at FLAPS.

Local VW after market shops is where I get em. Mine are not soldered, just pushed in to the sockets
