Okay Teeners! It's time to start thinking about the biggest west coast 914 event again. That's right, West Coast Ramble '08 is coming!
Our northwest member 'greenie', who also goes by Curt Nelson, and his wife Janet have offered to take up the planning and give us another great event.
So start getting those cars ready for a trip to Seattle.
Look for upcoming details such as dates and some of the fun things we'll be doing.
And a big THANKS to them for stepping up to this monumental task.
Curt can really use our help, so if you've got the time, and especially if you are in the PNW area, please
click here to send him a PM and offer to help.

It doesn't really rain that much in Seattle. About 37 inches per year.
But it is cloudy about 220 days per year. Hence the rainy perception.

That drive on the WCR 07 will be tough to beat.
So, i better get working on my 914 NOW to be ready. OK, I'll really need to work on new cup holder so I can always have hot coffee, cause I'm in Seattle, right? The big question is do I get a cup holder for cruizin, track laps, or even autocross racin?? I hope to do all 3.
Hey look, I still have WCR 07 in my avatar!

This is going to be alot of fun!
McMark said I'll need to get a thick skin.
My only goal is to have as much fun as we did last year at WCR O7, a very lofty goal.
We have a great group of teeners in soggy Seattle, we will give it our best.

Google maps says 873 miles each way for me (13 Hrs 48 min). Hmmm, drive the 71 rough but driveable.......or haul ass and get the 73 with boxster 3.2 power running? What was the date again?
I will say that I attended WCR 07 without a teener and had fun. My wife and I enjoyed sitting with Curt and Janet at dinner on the last night and I know they will put on a great event. Janet actually took my raffle prize (some Pelican stickers) and negotiated a three way deal that secured John Kelly's metal working DVD for me. Now that demonstrates skills
.50 stickers turned into a $40. DVD.
Either way you can count me and the wife in for 2008 in one of the cars, and anything I can do from the central coast of California to help
If you have never been to Seattle, now is the time. And give me a date so I can get off work!

an irdc open track day at bremerton would provide way more seat time with the 3 or 4 15-20 minute sessions than the 180 seconds you get for your 8+ hours with the pca group.

I think the reason we are having it up here in the 'Evergreen' State is that no one wants to see a burnt up moonscape from all the fires you all had. All that rain we have helps for something every once and a while (not rust though).
You really can't beat the weather up here in August! (The only month out of the year
)
Cheers to Greenie!
This news will hopefully keep my teener off jack stands until next winter. (Suby-time)
Plus, where can you find two kick-ass breweries within a stones throw of one another (Mac & Jacks and Red Hook)
This event will be the highlight of the year in Seattle since all of our local sports teams suck so bad.

Don't get me wrong. I think Seattle is probably going to be one of the nicest places for a 914 gathering.

proper there will be plenty of non car stuff for other family members to do. even something so mundane as a ferry boat ride across and back puget sound as a walk on. on a nice day i highly recommend it. first rate shopping and the other "tourist" attractions. there are lots of other nice drives without going over to the peninsula. plan extra days if you've never visited western washington. it sucks but you'll have a nice time. be prepared for pretty nice, polite people. NEVER plan anything before the 4th of july. june can be wonderful, or sweater/coat weather
. you'll understand why heat exchangers are a must for a daily driver.
ps, put on your wiper blades.

To the SoCal guys who are complaining: I understand that some of you won't be able to make the long journey up here. I completely relate - I desperately wanted to attend a past WCC event in SoCal, but was unable to because of the distance - so I get it.
But hey - average this thing out over a few years, and I figure most WCC/WCR/W?? events are more likely to favor your end of the coast.
More importantly, think outside the box look forward to seeing this beautiful part of the country. The weather here in the summer is perfect. You can expect high eighty temps and the "bluest skies you've ever seen." The scenery is SPECTACULAR. Be positive... You'll like it.
Thanks to everyone putting out the effort to make this happen.

I talked to Andy and Mark at the RRC and told them that I could not come up with enough people to make an event of this size happen. I need more help than Alan and Albert. If we want to have and event in So Cal get some people together to form a committee to make it happen in 09 and I'll help. In 2010 I'll be retired in Florida.
