With d-jet you only get a short burst of power when you first turn the key to on. After that the pump is not turned on until the engine is turning. You can defeat this by removing the the four pin plug in the back left of the relay board and wiring pin III (front left) to ground. This is the pin that the ECU shorts to ground when it wants the pump on. Your car won't start in this state but you will be able to confirm the fuel pump operation. Remember to remove power from the coil if you are going to have the key on for any length of time without the engine running.
Pressure regulator has no effect on the electrical supply to the pump.
Since you were working on the trigger points you might want to check electrical connections there.

I found an article regarding 75-76 fuel pump grounding....Ran an external ground to pump...and it started right up......I guess when installing the new fuel filter, the ground came loose or broke.....anyway...now I will pull the tank and do it right....Thanks for your help
