This is the harness that has the three prong plug that plugs into the board on the front left side of the engine compartment. It is the red wire that I do not know where to connect? They are part of the same harness that originates at the alternator. I thought it went to the battery but if does not seem long enough?

The thick red cable goes between the ALT and the lug on the starter shared with teh battery + cable. 
That makes sense! I figured it had to get back to the battery + terminal but was not long enough to attach directly.
