i was looking for an MPS for a fellow board member, and pulled the one from my car to check hte P/N for him.

it is 311 906 051 C.

at first I thought I pulled the wrong part, because I am still familiarizing myself with what the different Porsche variations of parts look like...

But, as the title says, it looks like an MPS.

What is it from? anyone?

Thats a fuel pressure sensor.

311XXXXXX means it also is on a type 3 VW

I cross referenced the Bosch number(0 280 100 007) and googled it also; it came up with a chart for an MPS, though

Would you believe a fuel pressure sensor disguised as an MPS.

It's an MPS, all right, off a Type III. The 67 (66?) VW Type III was the very first car ever to run Bosch D-jetronic EFI, and they used a Manifold Pressure Sensor that is very similar to the ones used on the D-jet 914s.

It may not have the full-throttle diaphragm; early ones did not. There were other detail differences as well, I believe. I think Brad Anders' D-jet reference pages may discuss some of the differences. http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders

It'll let a D-jet 914 run, but it won't run right unless the MPS has been significantly tinkered with. (And even then, if it's an early one it still won't be quite right!)
