I was just wondering is there a difference in muffler brackets between 73-74 and 75 models? I'd like to know if this bracket, off a 75, would work for a 73-74? Thanks!

Yes, they are different. I have a 75 that had a 1.8, and just installed a McMark 2056 and also backdated my heat exchangers and exhaust to 73-74 2.0 for better performance. I did have to acquire an early muffler bracket for it all to work.

I guess I should have clarified that, and maybe it doesn't make a difference, but it's going from a 2.0 to a 2.0, the only difference is the years. So are they different in that case?

The '73-'74 2.0 exhaust system is different than the '75-'76 2.0 exhaust system.

You have a single pipe coming down each side to the muffler with a flange and as I remember, it is triangular.

The '73 - '74 has two pipes per side.

They take different muffler / HE supports.

There are 3 different muffler brackets for 4cyl 914s.
1.7L/1.8L engines 70 - 74
2.0L engines 73 - 74
1.8L/2.0L engines 75 - 76

Their use is dependent on the heat exchangers installed rather that the engine.
So if you are using a the HEs off the 75 then the 75 bracket will work but if you are using the HEs off 73/74 then you need the bracket for a 73/74.
