The motor is in and ready to go with the exception of the primary harness that we don't have. There are a couple of guys out trying to locate one as I speak.

The one other real hangup is, where does the AAR wire connect to? The missing harness? Anyone?
TheCabinetmaker
Yes, the AAR connects to the engine harness.
TheCabinetmaker
oh, it will come from the other side of the plenum.
cary
The connector should be just about at the thermo timer switch.

cool for the help guys..
mike.. I traced all of the wiring diagrams... looks like that harness should: turn on the starter circut/aar/oil pressure warning light/back up lights/couple of ground wires/ coild wires(tach)/ and more stuff I can't remember off the top of my head...

SO.. Here is a question for everyone:
obviously this 12pin harness is missing from my little project...

1)anyone have one they want to sell in decent shape
2)can anyone confirm that all years would be the same.

thanks all.
p.s. nice picture mike!

I'll probably try to find a used one at a used price.. I'm going to be selling the car in march and can't afford to sink too much money into it.

good idea though...

any body have a sawzall car lined up that they can sell me this out of?

craig, do you have any spare ones?

The lift ramps are too narrow for a 914 engine with tin installed. But using the lift in this manner allowed us to keep the car level AND raise and lower the car at will instead of tettering a motor/tranny 3 feet of the ground on a jack. Bob sugeested running a 4x4 from the front donuts to the rear donuts so that we would no incur any floor pan damage. And using 4x4 and 2x6 inder that made for a very secure platform.

What we really need to worry about is that Union Jack on Bob's shirt.

I have several in my personal stash... but it would take you 3 months to get it...LOL

Looks like everyone had fun. Kinda scary on the lift setup.. but if it works..

ohhh ya we will meet soon... i was tuning the car up today and when i fired it up it started smoking, im worried i might have to pull the motor. i was peeved about today, what a waste

Brant you need the 12pin ignition harness from a 73-76 D-Jet car. L-Jet engine hanresses wont work and the earlier harnesses (1.7L) wont work either because the heater blower and oil temp sender circuits are different.

There are no grounds on this harness as suggested above.

The AAR connection is on this ignition harness (the only white wire), not on the FI harness.

I only have the new ones and cores...

this site is great...
2 weekends in a row people here have helped me immensly or saved my butt with parts...

Mr. Bowlsby, thanks a ton for the info... sorry I'm not buying new but I still really appreciate the info.

Renee, sounds like I need 73-76 DJet.. I know your 1.7 is a DJet, but I think it was a 72 right...?

Rod, I'll pm you... and thanks

p.s. ha.... brad, the only think slow about you is how slow you are to cash my checks... lol

That's only because you didn't see it for yourself. I've never "propped" up a 914 in any fashion that was more solid than this car was. It wasn't going anywhere.

Brant I got it out today and sent it priority mail. For some reason I thought you needed the relay to alternator harness as well so I sent that also. It appears to be in good condition. The PO taped the AAR wire and the green wire next to it as if he didnt use it (dont know why), maybe you can get it in shape, who knows.

Rod,
thanks a ton..
pm your address so I can reimburse you..

I think I'm covered on the alternator wire... so if somebody is in need of one, I'll pass the favor on and send it out?
