One of the 911 racecars that I maintain came in with a slipping clutch. I had just seen the clutch 2 events before and it was still 75% there. I noticed 2 other things about the car, the clutch pedal felt funny and the outside door handle was broken. I went to investigate the stiff clutch pedal and after I removed the floor board I saw a shiny silver pin stuck under the clutch area of the pedal cluster. With some pliers I removed it and it was the long pin on 911 door handles that always breaks. It had wedged it's self under the pedal cluster in such a way as to prevent the clutch pedal from returning all the way and forcing the clutch to slip.
We're putting a new clutch in anyway just because he spends so much money to get to the track that it's not worth taking a chance but I bet we could run this clutch.
So, I can't believe it but the door handle broke and took out the clutch!
