Calling all FI genius'

I have a 74 2.0 factory FI (or so I thought) with green 2.0 injectors. I know the motor is 2.0 factory no question there.

Can't get the full Bosch part number off of the FI Brain. Not stamped in the back metal like others I have see. It has a sticker that is partly worn off. The part of the sticker still there is really bright and BROWN in color.

The MPS is a 0 280 100 019 022 906 051A which I have heard could be a 1.7l replacement or from a 411/412 or even type 3 ???????


THE QUESTION: Has anyone heard of using a 1.7L D-jet setup on a 2.0? The MPS may have been adjusted as the stuff on the aduster looks tampered with.

Just removed the FI brain and wires to check the wire integrity. I noticed that the thermo time switch harness had been extended (PO used the existing wire connector then plugged into that with wire and used another connector to extend it.

My fuel pressure, up until recently when I checked it, has always been a little low like 26-27lbs. Now adjusted to 29-30lbs

0 280 100 019 = 10/69-07/71 1.7L enigne. Replacement for it was 0 280 100 049 which was used 07/72-10/73 1.7L engine.

Paul Banders indicates the the 049 can be used with the 043 / 044 (CU14X) ECU as OEM for '74 2.0L. Additionally, the 049 is used with the 052 (CU16X) as OEM for '75-'76 2.0L.

Confused now? What I would read into this is that your 019 MPS with a 043/044/052 ECU would be fine for your 2.0L (which is what I used on a friend's '73 2.0L .... 052/049 with a 012 CHT. Runs beautifully ....

70-73 was the Djet system for the 1.7.

In 73 they offered the 2.0 liter, but did not upgrade the Djet.
Instead you would have different injectors (green) a different CHT and a resistor, and that is it...It used the same ECU as the 73 1.7 unit, on some cars...

At some point during the model year, they did replace the ECU with a 2.0 liter dedicated ECU.

does this mean that the MPS 0 280 100 019 would need to be adjusted? It was my understanding that the 1.7L and 2.0 were indexed differently with the adjuster screw on the end. Don't exactly trust the PO's adjustment, if that is in fact what he did.

If I understand SLITS correctly I don't have to adjust the MPS for my 2.0L as long as my ECU is correct version

if i'm not mistaken it was all basically upgraded to 2.0 D-jet except the m.p.s./ecu w/ inline cht resister... right?

when i converted to 2.0 d-jet (from 73' 1.7) i went with 052 ecu (has decel feature that cuts fuel, helping mileage/emmisions w/o effecting power). along with the 012 cht and set 049? mps it runs great.
