Yep.
That is the basis for making a 2056. I am using a 2.0 crank and rods on a 1.7 case. For the most part, a case is a case and they are interchangable. Some things are different, but not much. Zach |

Can I use a 2.0 crank and rods with a 1.8 case. Thanx! L Yes. If you then use OE 94mm pistons and cylinders you have a 2 liter engine. If you use the 1.8 heads, you have what is effectively a VW bus engine (watch the C/R! with those heads!). If you use 96 mm pistons, the ones made for a 2 liter crank, you have a 2056 or something like that. You'll have to be careful about the deck height as the compression ratio goes up as the bore increases. The Cap'n |

Cap,n, what is the max compression ratio that you would recommend for a 2056? Thanks

If you don't mind others answering...
You need a lot more variables before you settle on your CR. Stock injection? Carbs? Modern eFI (like Megasquirt) What cam are you using? Iron cylinders? New heads? Rebuilt? When you have answers to those questions, you can make an informed decision on your CR. Zach |
