Ok, I kinda feel my car should have a name. O'Brien (Series9) put years of time and his soul into this car. I've spent years of working and saving to fund it (indeed, I continue to do so!). I love driving it, it's like no other car I've ever driven, including the 914 it was before I sent it to Florida. EDIT: that's a reference to the handling, not the lack of power from the poor /3 bus motor (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Brief details are in my signature. More about the build is over on ClubNARP under the thread titled, "The Start of a Beautiful Build" Or just ask me about it in this thread and I'll tell ya about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Can't go with "the Phoenix" as much as I liked that name and the mythology behind it, since it's been done at least twice already. "The RS" is taken by the first edition 3.6 monster that Joe built for himself as his flagship. I don't go for people names - those are for people, not cars, unless the car is possessed by the individual in question. I thought of "Orange Genius" but I'm not sure anyone under 40 is gonna get the reference and I never liked the things that much anyway, not to mention it's a none-to-subtle referencing of the intelligence it took to assemble and tune.

GAH! I'M WAY OVERTHINKING THIS. MUST. STOP. NOW. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) You see my quandary. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Maybe it doesn't really need a name.

Some interesting ideas! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) I knew I could count on this forum.

I should have clarified, part of the reason I'm even asking this question is to get ideas for a personalized plate. I'm luke-warm on the idea of just putting "914 SIX" or "914 RS" on a plate. The first one implies a real /6, the second implies ... well I guess it just implies it's a badass car, which it is.

Cerberus isn't exactly taken, but TVR made a car called the Cerbera which took its name from Cerberus. The Greek spelling, Kerberos, is an encryption protocol, so I'm not gonna use that one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I like the idea of Thor's Hammer since it does have a name: Mjölnir. Rendered in licese-plate lingo, that might not be too bad... "MJOLNIR" Only a few would get it. Hmmm.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Oh, and Querque (pronounced "quirky") would make my short list too, Ron, but Joe's dog has that for a nick name. She is pretty fast, though.

Cars already have names. You have to wait for them to tell you what it is.

Phaedrus - Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance says it means wolf. But it is not exactly correct. But that is kind of what you have. Something that is not what it seems but it is still bad ass. What is German for red wolf?
