I am thinking about converting the 2.0 to a six with HP in the low 200s, but before I go on with the conversion, how fast will the car be, what other cars can it beat, 0-60 times.

Well lessee. My 240SX had about 220 wheel horsepower, and would set down a 13.7 on street tires. It weighed about 2800 pounds. 2800/220= 12.7 pounds per horsepower
If your 914 puts down 200WHP and weighs 2100 pounds... 2100/200=10.5 pounds per horsepower. That makes you, let me consult my dictionary of highly-technical terms...... freaking fast! 0-60? This is not the car even with a 225hp six in it as you can't shift the 901 fast enuf! The tranny isn't designed like a Muncie 4 speed!
How fast??Hmm, I test drove a 3.2L car setup for track and damn near wet my pants it was so fast. 6 seconds maybe....I couldn't shift the 915 tranny fast enuf like 'merican muscle cars. Think 1900lb car, 250hp, wide sticky tires, LSD,burn out in 1st and second gear. Very fast and will kill most cars in stupid street racing. Geoff |

Quick or fast? there is a difference
My car has about 275 hp and weighs about 2000# However the way its geared, it tops out at just over 140. There are only a few courses where I use all of fifth gear. 200hp in a 914 is fun, and if you gear the tranny right its even more fun |

With a properly rebuilt shifter, and a 901, and a gentle touch you can HAMMER IT with 250hp, and experience letting the clutch slip a little, next thing you know, you are sayin' bye-byes at almost the same kind of speeds someone in a half-assed tuned Honda.

Not a six but my Raby built 2270 Type IV (150 hp) can top 125 easily. Haven't had her much past that yet but feels like there is plenty left and the aero & suspension don't noticably float at those speeds either. 0-60... don't know, never bothered. Fast though.
For comparison my Boxster weighs about 1000 Lbs. more than my 914 has a 2.7 six (227 hp) and will do 0-60 in about 6 secs according to Porsche and it seems plenty fast. and will hit 155... I've had her up to 140 personally with no problems. 200+ HP in a 914 should be quick enough for 90% of any street contest you might encounter. You might check the specs for the new Lotus Elise. 2000 Lbs, 190 HP. |

Everyones view of fast is different. I think my car is fast but as I got used to it at around 300hp I began thinking it wasn't, now Im pushing for around 400hp thinking It may feel fast again for awhile.

In mine, 1st gear is your push it to the floor and let up and shift as fast as possible. No pooping around, 1st gear whines up real fast. I thought it only did a max of 20 MPH in first, but we have seen 33 MPH in 1st at like 6200 RPMs or whatever I was comfortable shifting at that day which was GPS proven. Felt like a real douche driving around my neighborhood at 6200 of whatever waiting for the GPS to refresh, my neighbors loved me to say the least.
I about shat a brick, because it is just instant to that speed. I would say it is breaking the tires loose, but it's not. Slam it into second real fast. That shift is hard to get down, but when you do, it is a rocket ship. |

I have been 138 in a 914, This 914. Some of that was coasting. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)
It does 125 flat out, the first 115 happen in the same minute, and the next 10 happen over the next minute. M |

When I had a flipped H for 5th, I think that's what it was? I had mine up to 145, maybe 150. Was racing a guy on the highway, and when we pulled over, he said he looked down and saw 145 for sure. My speedo doesn't work, and even if it did, it probably wouldn't be accurate.

I'm trying to get my car to 1,425 pounds with the body.
And I'm also waiting on a Massive T-IV with 180 ponies. So 0-60 in the 6 second range is my guess.(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) Top speed, who cares? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif) Paul |

You have no place in this conversation, you only use half the car you bought, you don't count.

I'd think it would be faster than that. I got a ride in a 914-6 3.2. It was also a hot 3.2 with g60 cams and webbers. It felt like a sub-5 second car. |
