WCR 2010?, its never too early to start planning Options

I know it's only a day after WCR 2009, but now that I have a running and driving 914, I'm already getting ready for WCR 2010.

Being that next year is the 40 anniversary of the 914, my suggestion would be to do it up big and in Las Vegas. Plenty of rooms and lots of different options for activities.

I know its a long drive for the PNW guys (its long even from Sacramento), but being that its Vegas, I'm thinking it will be worth it.

Any other ideas being thrown around? I'd be happy to help plan or help out in any way!

I live in Ashland (10 miles south of Medford) and could help (not be in charge!). Drive to Redwoods is 2 1/2 to 3 hours but the road through the Smith River Canyon (CA 199) is made for 914's. There are big trees near Crescent City but it is another hour to the main groves. A redwood trip would be a full day.
Crater Lake would be another great run but also take a day. The Lake just opened last week with lots of snow still there so this is a better trip mid-summer or fall.
The Jackson County Sports Park is a fantastic AX venue (Kart track) used by the local SCCA group. I suspect we could reserve it on a weekday and maybe even on a weekend depending on the time of year. More likely booked on summer weekends.

Excellent Jim. Just the info I want. That track looks like a great venue. Is it in Medford? I think a monday schedule is the best for the track. Least likely to be booked & much cheaper during the week. I thought the redwood & Crater lake might be a bit much. We could still do the redwoods run & stay in Coos bay. Then loop around back towards medford. I know of a few winery's on the route back from Reedsport on the sunday. Not my thing but I have noticed some of our fellow teeners don't mind tipping back a bottle every now & then (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Crescent City is 110 miles away, about two hours out, two hours back. Plenty of Redwoods to see, maybe picnic at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

Crater Lake is even closer. About 80 miles away. Some very nice roads en route, unless you get caught behind an RV.

The Red Lion in Medford looks like a possibility. The Shilo has 48 rooms... maybe we could just rent the whole place (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The corporate rate is $59.46
