First time looking at a 914 Options

As you may or may not have read in my thread about searching for a 914, I'll be looking at one tomorrow (Sunday).

This will be the first time I've actually put my eyes (and hands) on one. I'll obviously inspect critical areas like the hell hole and Longs (as best I can since the rockers will be on).

Any tips? I'm mostly concerned about rust. Even though I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to mechanical repairs, I think (with the help of 914world) I can work through most of that.

Here's what I know about the car from the seller:

1974 Porsche 914 2 liter. Black, less than 80,000
original miles, appearance group, Fuchs alloys, 5
speed, original fuel injection, pristine interior, collector
plates. Never in accident, never smoked in. Always
garaged. Same owner for 31 years.

Needs new fuel pump bracket and fuel lines, thus
not drivable at this time; radio also not working.
Been sitting for about 3 years so tires are flat, and
would need replacing about now anyway.

Now I know that the wheels are not Fuchs, they're mahles.

I went and looked at the black appearance car Thursday.

She sure was a nice older lady....Told me her stories about driving the car up to Brainerd International Speedway during the Drags and "race week".

Yes the car is black with the appearance group-2.0 liter. Everything in the front trunk had been re-sprayed Black and I mean everything, the headlamp motors, wiring looms, including the spare tire. I believe it had some bodywork and a complete exterior reshoot. The doors didn't like to open with out the windows cracked, but not as much droop as I have seen on other Mnteeners. Interior was more intact than many also, But if it continues to sit out in the sun I think it will deteriorate quickly. I got down on my back and probed around just with my hands and fingers. found some holes. particularly by the rear jack points. the rear trunk had the typical rust along and around the rear tail light capsules and had been repainted as well. Under the engine hood there was a 2.0 liter looked stock and untouched with a lot of old walnut shells, battery tray was pretty much toast hell hole wasn't as bad as many I have seen, but I didn't take a pick to it either.
she said it had leaking fuel lines in the tunnel area. the tires were all old and pretty much flat. I also mentioned the wheels on it were Mahle burners, she originally thought they were Fuchs.

I did not take any photos out of a respect to the owners wishes.

She sent an email and I wrote her back. I did not hear back from her regarding when I could come see the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
