Paint needs to protect the metal. If it were me I would strip-clean-prime and paint the entire side valance cover in the original color. the inside surface is probably corroding worse than the exterior bottom surface in the photo. Have you pulled those valances yet? If not, be prepared for ugly, especially on the passenger side.
If you try to save the original paint you will see a line at the new-to-original interface and the original paint is probably so thin that it is not protecting the metal effectively now anyways. |
