I was just thinking of all the Air cooled VWs that I had. I started with my first car a 1958 VW Bug that I bought in 1968. $75. And a real piece of shit but my first car.
I went on to having more new VW Bugs and Campers in my life and got started with VW –Porsche 914 in 1978. Always loved the VW air cooled product and also enjoyed a new Rabbit Pick Up in 1981 Bob B |

1969 Bug...traded in my wife's Datsun 1600 two-seater for it right after we got married. Later traded the bug for our first 914, a new 1970.
Ordered a 1973 Thing, but backed out after deciding we really needed 4WD, so bought our first Land Cruiser, a new FJ40. 1969 Karmann Ghia. Bought a mostly-complete restoration for my wife as a Mother's Day present about 2003. Finished up interior and trim and it became her daily driver for 7 years until we sold it to fund restoration of another old Land Cruiser. She also decided she'd rather be cool in the summer and warm in the winter rather than the opposite. Also briefly owned a water cooler, a 1998 Beatle that was a true POS. Happiest day of ownership was when it got stolen. Unhappiest when it was recovered. ![]() |
