Some of you have had the chance to see my '73 914 at the 2017 Octeenerfest. We were honored that it was recognized as the People's Choice and 1st place in the Stock categories.
I won't go into a lot of additional detail in this post but rather will refer you to the link below. It has tons of pics and info that I have posted about this car over the five years that we have owned it. It's TRULY a time capsule. Hardly a cars and coffee goes by that someone doesn't walk up to me and ask If I did the restoration. Nope....all original. I'd place it in the top 5% of all 914's out there for originality. It was a one owner until 2014 and does have 47k miles on it but....well, read my thread below. I know....you may tell me that it's not low mile enough to command that kind of price. May be true but I think there is someone out there like me when I bought it five yers ago. One who recognizes that you only get a chance like this very rarely. I paid above market at the time. Has worked out well for me. Sara and I are moving to Mexico and I just can't let this one sit. I'm going to be honest....I'll be picky about the buyer...if one steps up. And if no one steps up to pay my asking price, then I'll just keep it in storage until the right person comes along. Let the rash of shit begin...... : ) ![]() Steve |

I'd take it to auction. Avoid the tire kickers.
Another example: 1974 2.0 Ravenna Green (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 17,288 miles, sold for $89,600 at Bonhams, Amelia Island. If yours is as nice as they say...your price may be a little low. (images are reversed) Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() |

About that time I decided that I would keep my car stock as possible and reversed course of converting it to a six. When I bought my 987 the 914 just started sitting and it pained me to see it sit and start collecting dust. I didn't need to sell it and I too sought somebody I thought deserving who would keep it. No offense to The World, but when I listed it here, I didn't have any serious inquires for the car even though it was well known in SoCal. I just though I'd give the crew a first shot at it. I'd also recommend the auction route. I had more serious inquires on Rennlist then The World. It seems like the 914 is for sure gaining collector car interest particularly in the Porsche circles as the longhoods are just out of reach now. This car is tenfold or more what my car looked like and in condition. GLWTS and your search for the next caretaker. |

"World" members are enthusiasts for the most part, not collectors. Enthusiasts will never pay up for something they cannot drive. Collectors have a lot of money but no soul, lol. j/k |
