There was a recent thread from someone bringing a working transmission our of storage and wanting to give it a quick refresh before installing to prevent leaks and such. I'm getting ready to do the same and thought I had bookmarked it but obviously did not. Despite numerous google and native forum searches, I can't find it but it had great advice I could use. Anyone recall that thread?

I found my copy of Dr. Evil's DVD and watched the reassembly portion (on the disc labeled "Maybe Porn" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) ). What I can't remember from the other thread is whether people thought replacing the output stub axle seals should be replaced just as a precaution. I know the input shaft seal should be done and the O-ring for the speedo drive. Can't remember about the outputs though. Not planning to go any deeper than just make sure it doesn't sling dino blood all over my freshly restored undercarriage.

Please let me know what you end up with as a parts list, and where you are sourcing. I was looking at getting the reseal kit from the Bird, part # is 914-300-901-00, price $41.00. I’m not sure what all is in it as it does not specify. Thanks, John |
