here is a compliance plate from around the same time.
gets affixed to the car in australia by the distributor/importer. no mention of germany ( a bit like basil in fawlty towers ?). of interest to american viewers. note officiousness of australian plate listing all the various codes and standards. not sure where they put these on the cars, would have been a struggle to find the space.
