its really hard to tell whats going on with that inner guard.

something looks like its happened.
could be as innocent as a bad gouge/scratch that has been touched up.
can't see where the repair if it is one goes at the top end or the bottom.
there are a lot of mottled artefacts in the digital photos which make it hard to really see.

maybe its a sign that some bastard did actually drive this baby pre 1979 and gave it a bit of stick and slid it into a ditch or put it through an english hedgerow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
