Hi, working away on a refresh of some items on my Bumblebee. One of the items I want to address is the cheap carpet kit it has that has not been installed very well to boot.
I am going to place an order for a kit. The question is which color. I want to go with the German Loop. There is a black, early charcoal and late charcoal. Which color is the most appropriate for a Bumblebee with a black interior. ![]() |

So, in summary @wonkipop , @JeffBowlsby and others, thank you. Looks like early charcoal german loop would work? The while I'm in there list on this car just keeps growing :-) there are a lot of changes that go on in 74 and not as orderly as is commonly held. ie early or late. nor all at the same time. its sort of spread out over the year. we tracked most of them with the 1.8s. the 2.0s divide into two bunches of production. aug 73-late oct 73. only 2.0s made on production line. those 2.0s very closely resemble 73 cars as far as i can tell in terms of materials used etc. late oct 73 to at least end of jan 74. only 1.8s made on production line. things start changing with the 1.8s a bit. 1.8 engine was slightly delayed introduction. then after jan 73 they start producing 1.8s and 2.0s in mixed batches on the production line. all the LEs are in that second group of 2.0 production in 74 and are different in detail than the 74 2.0s produced in 1973. we got close with some of the dates on the changes with the 1.8s and jeff bowlsby's data from LE and 2.0s matched closely. most of its up in the originality section of the website. there is a table that pinpoints all the dates for all the changes and gets pretty close. i hadn't tracked the carpet one closely in the 1.8 data but jeff's date would be accurate using the LE records he has. a list of the stuff off the top of my head is. charcoal cannister and modified fume hose hook up revision with revised emissions warranty. changes to map pocket and arm rest door pull material/construction. headlight mechanism cover color.* rear trunk heat insulation pad. change to ventilation fan box tubes in front trunk* expansion tank on fuel tank.* windscreen manufacturer supplier. carpet* *LE would only be affected by some of them on info i have. |
