I am thinking about converting the 2.0 to a six with HP in the low 200s, but before I go on with the conversion, how fast will the car be, what other cars can it beat, 0-60 times.

Fast 0-60 times are not what the 914 is all about. I’d have to see professional timing results to believe in sub 5 sec. runs from anything but a very radical car. To be set up for very fast 0-60 times would require a car built to handle it, meaning very wide rubber, very strong CV’s, trailing arms, and chassis in general. It would also be helpful to have a first gear that could handle a full throttle romp, and not need shifting until 62mph or so. That means a very high RPM capable motor and a trans with a fairly tall first gear, basically the 930 fits the bill.
That being said, I took a ride in Renegades shop demo car, and even with 225 tires and around 320hp, and a regeared 914 trans it was a scream. They can be quick, but the Ultima GTR just did 0 to 100 to 0 in something around 10 seconds flat, besting the Mclaren F1 by a substantial margin. The quarter mile was around 10.5 sec, 0-60 an amazing 2.8 seconds, and 0-100 in something like 5 seconds. It took 640hp, 335 rear tires, a G50 transmission with limited slip, and a 2200 pound car. All you have to do is follow that recipe in a 914 and you will have a quick and fast car! |
